The mission of the Central Jersey Chapter of National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) is to educate and enable women business owners to reach their full potential, to strengthen the wealth of our members, to build strategic alliances, to provide access to NAWBO’s resources for greater visibility and profitability, and to influence public policy.
Starting in 2007, the Annual Conference and S.E.E.D. event was created by NAWBO-CJ to encourage the formation of strong businesses, share the communal knowledge of experienced entrepreneurs, and support women in the realization of their entrepreneurial dream. NAWBO recognizes that women are starting businesses at twice the rate of the general population, but according to the Small Business
Administration, only two-thirds of new businesses survive more than two years, and just 44 percent survive more than four years. NAWBO wants these numbers to change, and believes NAWBO membership is a key ingredient in success for women business owners. Sixty percent of the NAWBO-CJ membership has passed the 5-year milestone and 35% has been in business for over 10 years. Having the ability to tap into mentors with entrepreneurial experience can give S.E.E.D. winners the edge they need to succeed. Faith (center in picture) was the 2009 winner of the S.E.E.D. competition; winning a prize package worth over $7,250.00.
